Fashion designer Anna Sui took some town out of her night to give me a few deets on her new Gossip Girl inspired clothing line. Her clothes are hip, affordable, and inspired from our favorite scandalous tv show. It may surprise you which she character she relates to the most!
CQ: As we know you designed a line inspired by Gossip Girl, which characters style inspired you most?
AS: I would say I was most inspired by Jenny because of the punk rock style and she has the bangs, like I have just like me, and probably Blaire because she is very girly and has very girly clothes and that is very much like my clothing line you know.
CQ: Who would you compare yourself to out of the 4 characters on the show?
AS: I relate to Jenny’s style the most you know because she is punk rock and has that edgy look going for her like I do, and she has the bangs and she wants to be a fashion designer, so haha!
CQ: What about in high school?
AS: In high school I was like the Brooklyn girl, Vanessa, but also I always wanted to be a fashion designer even when I was little so I was like Jenny one also.
CQ: People are saying that by carrying a mainstream line at Target you are a sellout, what would you say to that?
AS: Well I have to say that no, I don’t think that because my line is now going to be available to girls all over and now at a price people can easily afford. My line was never about being a really luxurious expensive line. I am trying to make it accessible for all people, and I think that that is a really good thing, especially for what is going on right now with the economy and everything.
